ReplyDeleteFirst I watched the Native American quotes video on you tube, and it is pretty much what it says. There are a bunch of quotes that come on the screen from native Americans and most are having to do with prayer or spiritual stuff. I pretty much got all of them, most being about prayer or spirits and others being about how it is good to pray, but you need to live your life yourself also and not rely on god. The one I didn’t quite get is one that said, “ listen or your heart with keep you deaf.” Because I thought that listening to your heart was the good thing to do and what else would the natives listen too, because they didn’t seem to want to listen to the white man and themselves as tribes and such were all pretty much family, therefore listening to the same “heart” that they live by. Either way, the video could have just been text but they were some pretty cool and interesting quotes.
For the second video I watched the America the beautiful video that is pretty ironic. The video is showing how the Native Americans were “Americanized” and how this was pretty much cultural genocide on the part of the whites of America. It pretty much exposed the belief that if they killed off the Native American life-style they would save the proper man in the Native Americans, so that’s why they cut their hair and made them go to school and such. It is also ironic because it is supposed to be America “The Beautiful” but what we did to the Native Americans was all but beautiful considered it could be classified as a cultural genocide, I mean come on, killing off an entire peaceful culture is pretty ugly no matter how you look at it.
